151844Photo #151844Add cycleway on St Augustines Rd westbound from Bacons Lane to the Boythorpe Rd roundabout.

There are already cycle lanes on Whitecotes Lane west of the roundabout, and adding a short segregated link here would make the Bacons Lane route from A61 to Whitecotes Lane more pleasant to use.

151842Photo #151842Improve cycle detection at traffic signals.

The vehicle detection on the traffic signals under the railway bridge doesn't seem to reliably pick up cyclists (possibly insufficiently sensitive detectors), leading to excessive waits at red signals until a motor vehicle approaches from behind as well - at quiet times, this can be a long wait!

151841Photo #151841Improve cycle detection at traffic signals.

The signals seem to default to the A632 movement, and while motor vehicles approaching from Spital Lane and Piccadilly Road are detected and given greentime, this don't seem to reliably pick up cyclists (possibly insufficiently sensitive induction loops?)

151840Photo #151840Add a traffic signal stage for cyclists from Linden Avenue.

While the Chatsworth Road and Storrs Road arms of the junction are signalised, the Linden Avenue arm (providing a cycle connection) is not - so to cross from Linden Avenue to Storrs Road as a cyclist, you need to find gaps in the opposing flow from Storrs Rd to A619 west, or nip across in the intergreens.

144687Photo #144687Cycles lanes here are ineffective. People park here and walk into town for work (full between double yellows by 845 daily). This prevents use for commuting into town or to the many nearby schools....which was presumably why the lanes were installed originally.Cycleway:

125192Photo #125192There's needs to be a designated cycle provision on Hasland Road either by taking some of grass verge or restricting parking on the service road on it's west edge.

Lots of cyclist going up hill slowly southbound on Hasland Road to the frustration of motor vehicle users. Separate them and make it safer.
